Won’t you be my neighbor?

I know.  I know.  I ripped off the title from No Pattern Required – Home of the Mid-Century Menu.

Regardless,  the swankienda at 8114 Colgate is for sale.  Not only is it cute to death, but in 1963, it won the GBV Christmas decoration contest for a display entitled “Christmas Hospitality.”

Many of you know, the 8200 block of Colgate is getting pretty darned serious about the Christmas light competition.  We won Honorable mention last year, and have been plotting next’s years display for months.  We intend to WIN.  More than that, we’re going for that award you get for winning three year’s running.  After that, lifetime achievement.

So, won’t you be my neighbor?  Won’t you revive the competitive holiday spirit that once reigned in the next block?

Y’all can fight it out for Most Beautiful Christmas Lights (or just Most Christmas Lights). But I want the Christmas Hospitality award.

And I really want to know what the Christmas Hospitality display looked like your neighbors won in the 60s. I know how to host a party, but not as a display in my front yard with lights. Wondering if I can get one of those giant martini glass bathtubs online for my front yard. Hmmmm….
